What is Thread Lifting?

Thread lifting, often called a “thread lift,” is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure designed to lift and tighten sagging skin. It uses biodegradable threads, commonly made from Polydioxanone (PDO), that are inserted beneath the skin. These threads provide an immediate lifting effect and also stimulate collagen production, resulting in a natural, youthful appearance that evolves over several months.

What does Thread Lifting Involve?

Thread lifting involves inserting biodegradable threads, typically made from Polydioxanone (PDO), beneath the skin using fine needles. Once positioned, the threads anchor the skin, providing an instant lift. Over time, they also stimulate collagen production, enhancing skin elasticity and firmness. The procedure is performed with local anesthesia, ensuring minimal discomfort, and usually has a swift recovery period.

FAQs

What is Thread Lifting, and how does it work?

Thread Lifting is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure designed to lift and tighten sagging skin. It uses dissolvable threads made from biocompatible materials that are inserted beneath the skin to provide an immediate lifting effect while stimulating collagen production for long-term rejuvenation.

What areas can Thread Lifting treat?

Thread Lifting can effectively lift and contour areas such as the cheeks, jawline, neck, and brows. It is also ideal for improving skin laxity in the mid-face and tightening areas prone to sagging, delivering a more youthful and refreshed appearance.

Who is a good candidate for Thread Lifting?

This treatment is suitable for individuals in their 30s to 50s experiencing mild to moderate skin laxity. It’s an excellent alternative for those seeking noticeable results without undergoing surgical facelifts or long recovery periods.

How long does the procedure take, and what is the recovery like?

The procedure typically takes 45–90 minutes, depending on the treatment area. Recovery is minimal, with most patients resuming normal activities within a day or two. Some mild swelling, bruising, or tenderness may occur, but these side effects usually subside within a week.

How long do the results of Thread Lifting last?

The lifting effect is noticeable immediately after the procedure and continues to improve over the following months as collagen production increases. Results generally last 12–18 months, depending on the individual and the treated area.

Is Thread Lifting safe, and are there any risks?

Thread Lifting is a safe, FDA-approved procedure when performed by qualified professionals. The threads are naturally absorbed by the body over time. Minor risks include temporary swelling, bruising, or slight asymmetry, which can be addressed during follow-up appointments if needed.

TIPS FROM OUR EXPERTS

Dr ADAM NAJEM

At Grand Cosmetic Clinic, we aim to ensure that you feel comfortable and confident throughout your thread lifting journey. As your treating physician, I want to ensure that you are well-prepared before your treatment. The best way to prepare for your thread lifting procedure is to avoid any blood-thinning medications or supplements, such as aspirin or fish oil, for about a week before your treatment. This will help to minimise any risk of bruising. If you have any concerns about medications, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us beforehand.

On the day of your treatment, it’s important to come in with a clean face, free from makeup or skincare products. I’ll guide you through the entire procedure and ensure you’re as relaxed as possible. For your comfort, a numbing cream will be applied to the treated areas, and we will go over any areas you’d like to focus on for lifting and rejuvenation.

It’s also a good idea to arrange for someone to drive you home after your appointment, as you may feel a little tender and need some time to rest. If you have any specific questions or concerns before your treatment, please feel free to reach out—we’re here to help you every step of the way. Your satisfaction and well-being are my top priorities, and I look forward to helping you achieve your desired results.

NEED TO KNOW

POST-TREATMENT SAFETY

After your thread lifting procedure at Grand Cosmetic Clinic, it’s essential to follow some simple care instructions to ensure the best results and a smooth recovery. You may experience some mild swelling, bruising, or tenderness in the treated areas, which is completely normal and should subside within a few days. To help manage this, I recommend applying a cold compress to the treated area for 10-15 minutes at a time during the first 24 hours.

For the first few days after your treatment, avoid any intense physical activity, including exercise or heavy lifting, as this can place unnecessary strain on the treated areas and potentially affect the results. Additionally, try to sleep with your head elevated to minimise swelling and support the healing process.

You should avoid facial massages, intense heat (such as saunas or hot showers), and excessive sun exposure for the first few weeks to prevent any undue pressure on the threads and ensure the optimal healing of the skin. It’s also important to refrain from using any harsh skincare products or treatments, such as retinol or exfoliants, in the treated areas for at least a week.

If you have any concerns during your recovery or notice anything unusual, please don’t hesitate to contact us. I’ll be available to answer any questions and provide guidance, ensuring your treatment progresses smoothly. At Grand Cosmetic Clinic, your safety and satisfaction are always our priority.
